Help - Durametric Software or PST2 in Seattle/Redmond
Wondering if anyone in the Seattle / Eastside area with Durametric or PST2 that can help read/reset my airbag light. I can bring a 6 packs as token of my appreciation!
Thanks,
Herb

My car had a black sticker covering the light for like 4 years now (before I bought it, while I had it and with the new owner (who is the one that put the sticker on in the first place)
cheezy, but effective
I have been drinking - sorry if I slurred that and put 3 parynthasis

Zmonsta,
I have a cheep OBD2 device from Shucks that I bought two years ago that will rest the CEL. It will read the basic code such as Evap or in my recent troubles Cooling Sys Errors and reset them. I would be happy to let you use it to do the reset... but don't you want to know if there is something more going on?
When I have had the CEL on I used the device to ease my concern for driving the car... but then drove to Chris's and they put the Porsche Test box on it to confirm the sub codes and direct us to a solution. On two occasions they have done this at no charge and no waiting, then sent me off to decide my plan for repairs, even suggesting I shop for best price parts on my own (Sunset). I would think there might be a friendly independent - maybe John Walker over your way and see what they say.
But if you just want a reset ... I'll take that 6 Pack - Guinness Please.

@Ed, that's a good suggestion, I honestly thought bout it... But I fig since it's a safety device, I think I will try to address it properly... btw: I use that many parenthesis even when I ain't drinking.. hahah
Thanks Jacks911 for the offer. I have an OBDII scanner/reader/reset device too, but it won't reset the airbag light.
Good call on Chris's, I have never been, but have heard great things bout them. I will give them a try if I don't find anything else.. or I may just break down and buy a Durametric..

Plus 1 on Chris's German.
You might try just driving over to Group 2 in Magnolia since its Saturday and they won't answer the phone. But almost always someone is there just messing around with their own stuff. A 6-pack goes a long way in those situations

Hey Zmonsta -
I don't have the gear you are after, but I figured this would be a good place for my first post since many of the WA state guys are here, I just picked up a 2001 Carerra, and my first car was a 1970 240Z.
I can also vouch for Chris's German. I had an '82 911SC a few years back, and he has always done excellent work at a fair price.
Are there any regular Porsche meetings happening in the greater Seattle area?
Cheers,
- Tim

Hey Ed -
So do you work at Chris's or just hang out there a lot?
Yeah, I think the 911 I just bought is a real gem. I wasn't sure about the tip tran, but I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would. And since this is going to be a car I drive regularly, the tip is a good thing during the almost all day traffic around here.
I'm going to do my best to get out to that skills class on the 8th.
Quick question: I notice that after a spirited drive in manual shift mode, the engine smells hot and there is a slight odor of what seems like burnt clutch. Is this normal?

I barely ever go there (does twice a day count as barely?)
that smell.... oh that smell....
It means you drove it correctly! - others will pop in and confirm it... it's a good thing
Pretty sure I will be there the 8th - I picked up my new helmet and I am needing a bit of fun with the group. It's a really well run program and I assure you the best $60 you will spend on your car - but beware, completely addictive!

So I need a helmet for the skills class? I've literally spent just about my last dime to get this car in the middle of gift giving season, so I don't know I will have the cash for helmet + fee. Can I come as a spectator?
