Should have qualified that my recollections were for the '99 996 which is the model I owned. The order guide for that year, which I still have, mentions the stiffer springs and shocks but not the 10mm lowering. I'm pretty sure the US M030 for that year wasn't lower. What year is yours? There may have been a change for later model years. Otherwise can't explain your window sticker, unless of course my memory is totally off.

I remember a couple of really good articles in Panorama on these 996 suspensions. I found the reference in the index section on the PCA site; they were in April and May of 2002. No link to the actual articles though, and my copies of those issues are long gone.

ok memory failure on my end

BUT

I have an excuse, it is because when I asked for VIN decoding from suncoast they sent me this list:

"
MNR Type Description
030 Sports suspension (- 10 mm)
415 18" Turbo Look II wheel (monobloc)
446 Wheel centre set
680 BOSE Sound System including AudioPilot (digital)
692 CDC-4 six disc CD autochanger
E73 Carbon package (large)
P11 Automatically dimming interior/exterior mirrors
P15 Electric front seats
P74 Headlight pack including cleaning system
X69 Door entry guards in carbon
XMJ Rear section of centre console in carbon
XSU Lowered seats
"

So I confused their "030 Sports suspension (- 10 mm)" with my -10mm lower seats on the sticker....

which is which now... I am jsut surprised they said I have this '30 sports suspension' when I don't really see it on my window sticker...

No, but you do have "Special Chassis Rigidly Tuned" for $705 which I'm fairly certain is the US spec M030. That's $15 more than it cost in 1999.

I see indeed the sport type chassis is labeled M030. Always cool to discover option I had no idea I had LOL

Does anyone knows for sure what is included in that M030 option ?

What's confusing is ROW Standard and ROW Sport. I didn't think there were two versions of the "Rest of World" kit. I have ROW M030 which I understood to be Euro Sport Suspension, so what is the ROW Standard?

It's is pretty confusing. The ROW standard is mentioned in the text of the article and shown in Table 1, but there is no other data given for that suspension anywhere else that I can find, so it's hard to make comparisons on spring rates, etc..

Table 1 shows ground clearance to a specific point on the suspension, and Table 3 shows distance from the front fender lip to the ground so the numbers in those charts aren't directly comparable which is probably good because they don't match.

I remember using the fender lip measurement before and after changing the suspension and finding it was about 10mm lower, which is what I was told to expect. Table 3 shows 12mm so at least that's in the ballpark.

Probably doesn't answer you question but that's all I've got....

I wonder if Gert or someone from Suncoast could chime in on this.....it is confusing. I have the X74 so I'm as low as you can go with a stock Pcar suspension....and I'm a happy camper.

Mike, thanks for the perspective. Porsche does allow for +/- 10mm with most setups, so they sort of protect themselves in terms of what they promise.

Pete, what does your X74 measure from ground to fender lip?

I want to say 25 1/8". Car is in the shop (that's another subject / thread ). I can check when I get it back. I can say the X74 dropped close to 1 3/4" (44mm) from stock height.

Okay, So here it is ... My P-car with X74 Kit, GT3 Replica Wheels and Fabspeed muffler.

Unfortunately, the fabspeed drones pretty bad from 2800rpm - 3400rpm .... Any ideas to reduce the drone? BUT, the mufflers actually sound pretty good!

Will post up some videos after christmas!
