Many dealers today don't own their loaners - the whole process have all been completely outsourced to rental car companies like Enterprise. So it may very well be Enterprises car, not your dealers. Hopefully this is prior damage or the dealer has your back

Update:
Finally got the car back from Porsche yesterday. I grabbed the guy and showed him the damage to the Caymans front bumper in daylight conditions. I told him although I was pretty sure I didn't do the damage, I was not 100% sure and I'd would pay for the damage. Porsche guy said don't worry about it which was good because the bill for the work I had done on the 996 was a little over $1900.
Glad to have the old 911 back. I missed the power but I will miss the stock short throw shifter on the Cayman.
Thanks for all your input, it all turned out well.
Oh and since they had the 996 on a lift for 2 weeks I told them to assess the value for curiosities sake. $19,500 for a 2000 996 C2 with 55,000 miles on it. The only real option it has is the fancy traction control. Guess that's not too bad for a dealership.

value and what someone will pay are often 2 very differant things
really glad the car is home and the scratch that you fessed up to (rather you did it or an unknown) turned out to be a "dont worry about it"
$1900 what did you have done

Real quick, I have to run to a meeting...
Leftside Exhaust was rattling so I had them replace it with OEM
Coolant flush
de-clog the Cowl Drains up front.
replace a worn Serpitne <sp? belt.

Glad to hear it all worked out well for you.
Is the $19,500 valuation what they would give you on a trade in at that dealership or was it their assessment of the cars Blue Book value?

Short meeting. Love those.
I asked the dealership what they would pay me for the car if I just wanted to unload it quickly.
Not sure if I want to but the miles are getting up there. I need to find another 996 30k or less on it.

I'd be remiss if I didn't break down the cost of the work from the Porsche Dealership on the expensive East Coast:
the left side muffler parts and labor (using my original exhaust tip) $1116.24
Coolant flush and all that it entails: $291.55
the warn drive belt replacement: $217.05
Cowl Drains $135
Shipping from Germany $55
and misc BS charges

Thanks I'll look into the oem short shifter. I'm guessing PelicanParts carries it.
EDIT: found it, good ole Suncoast has them. I will be looking forward to this Spring project.

was the muffler PSE or standard?
nice to get new coolant, any word if they checked the waterpump for bearing play while the belt was off?
AND if you upgrade to a 997 shift assy you can build it ahead of time (winter) and swap it in in the spring... mucho better

No don't think my car has the PSE but really not sure. It's really really fast. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
About checking the water pump. I didn't ask them specifically to look at it but I did tell them to perform a thorough assessment of the car while they had it. I've found most Porsche Dealerships are pretty vigilant when checking over a car. Of course there are always exceptions. I'm pretty confident they would have let me know.
