My 99 996 did the same thing today. I will check the fuses and jiggle the ignition switch to see if it will come on. The a/c engages when I press the snowflake. I'm not in to messing with the wires but I'd take a gamble with the blower motor if it isn't a professional type job. Anybody have some guidance into the assembly/disassembly of the blower?
