I can't wait until mine comes. The main advantage with the original is that since it looks so ****ty, no one expects it to be a Porsche key! No worries about key theft with that one.
Chris, is the key sitting on engine mounts?

So... Is this how the components function?
Circuit Board: used only to arm/disarm the alarm; if replaced, it needs to be coded to the receiver in the car by the dealer.
Pill: Car ignition senses the pill in the key and will not start without the correct code buried in the pill. Also needs to be programmed by the dealer if replaced.
Alarm button intermittent (might need to be re-soldered according to other threads): this is on the circuit board only; new circuit board will also fix this issue, but needs to be programmed by the dealer; "pill" from old key can be re-used with new circuit board without need to reprogram the pill.
Yes? No?

Yes but if you have to get the new Key head programmed anyway why put the old pill in the new key head?
I think the pill is passive RFID device so the car has to be introduced to the pill, they flirt, date and if compatible go home and get snuggie under the covers together.
The circuit board is an active player with a rolling code, gathering no moss, like your garage door opener.
The board and car get introduced exchange numbers, flirt, get intimate, then the board goes away until the next time they intimately exchange numbers...
Until one of them gets in a snit over something and they stop talking.
Then you get to bring them to the councilor (dealer) and pay $$$ to try to get them to patch things up..
Resoldering does not always fix the board.

Thank you,
I used to be an engineer, They never let me run the train, but just let the damn thing jump the tracks then see who catches hell.
I retired a few years ago.

Of course you can.
Does your key only have one button also?
What year is the car? I did not know 996 came with one button. It might not work, anyone??
Call the folks at Sunset 800-346-0182 and see if the 911 head uses a compatible frequency. I don't think the replacement 911 case will line up with a one button circuit board.
Post a pic of your key head.
