Search around on R'list a little more. I just read a thread where someone used one from a 1984 BMW 318 automatic as a direct replacement @ $30.
Maybe it was Pelican?? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-996-997-forum/

I registered with this forum to inform that I my mechanic had installed the 318i guibo to my 996 c4 cardan shaft. The bmw's unit is 26 mm thick, about 7 mm thicker than the one fixed on the Porsche. Fortunately, the amount of free play at the cardan shaft allowed for this difference to be 'absorbed', so to speak. Bottomline is, IT FITS!! The BMW unit cost me US30 only. Good luck guys.

My indie did the same thing: since the Porsche Flex disc is not available without replacing the entire driveshaft, they were able to fit a BMW 318ti automatic Trans Flex disc in place. It was apparently slightly thicker but they were confident that it would work well and will check on it next time I'm in.

So far so good x 1 month!

Is it an easy job to change the transmission mounts?

Is this only on automatics, or all trannys?

Is it possible that using the BMW flex-disk replacement described above could somehow affect the function of the AWD system (i.e. that it wouldn't be as "grippy" or otherwise responsive?)

KOPerformance.com has the proper porsche part. The BMW part I've seen (not sure if it was from a 318) is thicker as described, but the metal eyes do not stick out as they do on the porsche part, which fit into the transmission and driveshaft.

I found it on their website as Part 102539005-57 - are you sure it is the exact same as the Porsche flex disk? Have you ordered it from KO yourself and can verify? Thanks!

Yep, it's even got the same part number on it as what was on my car.

So you're saying that it looks exactly like the one on the right in your picture above?
