99 carrera cabrio check eng light issue
Hello from Nh, I recently just purchase a 99 cabrio from a Tamp dealer and had it shipped up to Nh. My mechanic advised it wont pass the obII emissions test cause the check eng light is not operating and cause a check eng malfunction light (mil)- open circuit. P1691 code
Would a burnt out check eng light bulb cause this condition / code, or should I look at harness etc. Or perhaps someone prior disabled before I received the vehicle. Thanks for any and all input. Sincerely, Rodney Nh

If the light is burned out that would be it. You could obviously check it by turning the key on. it the cel lights up, it works, if not prolly the reason for your code. That is normally the code for a malfunctioning cel.
