Default Time to Replace Battery????

I have noticed that the car has been more difficult to start since the weather got colder. The car stalled as I was pulling into the garage. Will not turn over. Sounds like the battery does not have enough power to turn over.

You guys think it is battery? What replacement should I use?

Can I just pick one up from AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts?

Is this difficult to install myself?

Try a battery tender first. It might be just weak.... if it persist, a new battery, if that doesnt work.... the alternator.

I will put the battery tender on it right now. Any idea how long I should wait before trying to start the engine?

Went outside and car started right up. Drove around the block. Volt meter was just a little below 14.

Pulled the car inside and put the battery tender on it.

Called Costco. They have optima red top. Also have their "Kirkland Signature" battery. The kirkland battery is made by Johnson Controls. Their private label products are awesome. Cannot imagine them doing well with a battery.

I do not want to get stranded with a bad battery. Should I just replace mine?

If it is your battery, there are plenty of choices that are usually less $ than OEM Porsche. I replaced mine with an Interstate battery.

I'd just replace it. It's pretty cheap peace of mind. My car began to crank slowly when the battery was going bad, and it finally left me stranded in the parking lot of Home Depot over the summer.

I was surprised at how much faster the engine cranked with the new battery. It's a very, very easy DIY.

Just replaced mine today. Check the renntech diy discussions on this topic. There are many good options. Most swear by the Costco battery, if they can find them...

As for me, Canadian Tire; Eliminator, group 48

Get the vent system right also. Check what you have already. Should be clear tubes wih connectors or just one connector. One type is an oval single vent line connector then there's a dual line. Thanks for reminding me I still need the splitter and other side connections

I also called Costco a few weeks ago in Westlake. They said it was in stock. Then I went to the store and no battery - they don't carry it in stores. Walmart has a 3yr replacement battery made by Johnson Controls for $77. That's what I just bought after the wasted trip to Costco. Be sure your Costco has it on the shelf before going there.

Yea. Just called my Costco locations. None of them carry the battery nor are they able to order. Costco.com does not sell any car batteries online.

Picked one up at Walmart. Going to install tonight.

Yup, got stranded at kid's school last Friday morning. Better to just replace it And better when you can prepare for it = cheaper. I ended up buying the one from the AAA guy, for convenience sake, at least it has a 3yr warranty. If anything happens, at least they will come to ME and replace it.

LOL, I was stranded in front of my kid's preschool this morning also.

A #11 battery doesn't cut it in colder weather.

Just realised the same thing.

Question; is it possible to just block/plug the other hole? Or do they drain different cells?

Yah I replaced mine while going through hard starts some times after the engine got warmed up. No problem for months now.

Big thing to do is make sure the vent connector arrangement is right.
