Is this the normal resting position for the wiper on my 996 Targa? I noticed in some pics of a 997 that the wiper blade was 'vertical', closer to the edge of the glass.
Just got the car three weeks ago. Don't know where else to verify.

Remove the cap at the bottom of the wiper arm. Unscrew the nut below it. Pull up on the wiper arm (may need some wiggling or a small flywheel puller). Set the wiper arm vertical ~10mm from the edge of the window frame and retighten the bolt to 17nm (13 ft lbs) and you are back in business. The 10mm is a guess. For the front wiper, the closest point to the lower edge of the window is specified as 12mm. I don't have a spec for the rear wiper.

Thanks for this. I didn't realize the arm itself could come off. I thought you had to take apart the entire spindle. The nut holding it was barely on, and after some troubleshooting and fiddling it seems the wiper is now returning to the proper position.
One observation/question: The wiper does two sweeps, one shallow and one deeper/closer to the bottom of the glass before returning to position. Is that normal?
