Default Motor mounts.

Anybody have a favorite? I'm replacing mine. I'm not looking for race-car hard, but something firmer than stock would be fun...

Last I looked it appeared to be two manufactuers. Not sure if it was both for the 996 with one set mk1 and the other mk2.

Aren't the choices...stock, solid, and is there something harder than stock but not necessarily for racing?

You can also use turbo mounts, which are solid rubber and cheaper. A bit more vibration/noise but certainly nowhere near "solid" mounts.

Isn't Turbo mount is hydraulic too?

How about 993 RS mount?
12. 964.375.043.80 Engine Mounts (qty 2)
13. 901.305.311.00 Seat (qty 4)
15 999.025.074.02 Washer (qty 4)
16. 999.025.134.02 Washer (qty 4)

The OEM bolt is 105mm, you will need 120mm for 996.

This is great, thanks. I hadn't even considered Porsche parts. Are the mounts for the 996 GT3 the same as for the Turbo?

Just put on Turbo mounts last weekend. So far, so good. Have not notice much change in noise level. Good bang for the buck...

Anybody here running the RS mount?

The reality is that I still commute in this car. There is a point where vibration at idle would get tough to live with in traffic...

Bruce,
I used RS mounts on both the C4S and GT3 and I did not experience where vibration at idle.

How do you diagnose if / when you should change your motor mount ? noise ? vibrations ? leak ?

That's what I'm running, all parts ordered from Gert. A very easy DIY, follow this... http://p-car.com/diy/motormount/ It's for a 993 but works pretty much the same.

Makes the shifting and power delivery more precise, hardly any increase in cabin vibration. A very worth while mod for that performance feel...
