on narrow body car with:

stock offset:
50 in the front
65 in the rear

but it seems you can push it up to ( TO BE VERIFIED by Ed
48 in the front
52 in the rear

Again, the smaller the number, the more the wheels will stick out of the fender.

So, along comes someone else with 4 mounted snow tires on aftermarket wheels that I saw on Tire Rack. I don't know if these are the same or just similar wheels to the ones that they spec'ed for my 996. These wheels are off of a Boxster. Can you confirm or deny whether these will fit my 996?

Front
17" (17x7.5)
Offset: 52mm
Backspacing: 6.29"
Bolt Pattern: 5-130
Tire Size: 205/50-R17
Rim Brand: Sport Edition Cup 4 (you can find these on Tirerack.com)
Tire Brand: Pirelli 240 Snowsport

Rear
17" (17x9)
Offset: 47mm
Backspacing:6.85"
Bolt Pattern:5-130
Size: 255/40-R17
Rim Brand: Sport Edition Cup 4
Tire Brand: Pirelli 240 Snowsport

What do you think? It will be a good deal if it works. I am concerned about the Offset, and I don't have any clue of what the "backspacing" means. These will be shipped to me from CT.
