Just wanted to introduce myself & ask for reco on local shops
I'm a new porsche owner, don't even have a picture of it yet, but I will take some this weekend. I'm not rich (yet) so I bought used, but it's beautiful and I love it 
Anyway it's a 2003 Carerra coupe (2wd) 6spd, blue. Haven't made myself up to speed on all your lingo/abbreviations yet, but in time....
Anyway, I also wanted to ask if anyone had a recommendation for a shop that can do an alignment in Orange County, CA?

I'm surprised that our Official Greeter, Tim, aka GOTA911 (he no longer does, but you'll like him, anyway), has yet to arrive. But he will. Eventually.
The guys here will rag on you a bit until you post pics of your car. It is part of our welcoming hazing for new arrivals.
Things are starting to warm up for the winter "Crazy Threads" season. Get a comfy seat, something fun to drink, and enjoy your stay with us.

Hello Kristyhana, welcome to the forum. I hope your car does fine for you. Is there any problems with your alignment now? Some tires make noise at different levels of their wear. The car will wear out the rear inner faster. I think thats mostly from not flying the turns to keep things wearing even, but thats my attitude.
If you do have an alignment problem just give the symptoms and you'll get some input for sure.
Good luck getting a good place that undetstands setting up your car right. There are some different ways to align the car. One good for sport/race feels wrong on the street till you stay on the gas.
Since the engine is in the rear the weight makes the rear more prone to slide than other cars correctable by gas or what not. Since the rear slides before the front it is called an "oversteer". "Understeer" is when the front slides first when breaking loose. Another term is "Wooooohoooo" which is what you have now thinking of having the nice little 911 to play in.

Ok I added an avatar pic. It's kinda small tho huh. It's the only one I have until I take pics of my own. Thanks for the other welcomes though I will definitely get pics of MYSELF AND THE CAR in the near future so you all don't ban me 
As for the alignment - the car veers to the right. I bought it with brand new tires on it, so I don't know the wear yet, but I'd rather have the alignment done before I find out I did find a couple porsche-only shops in the area but don't have any personal reviews/recommendations yet. I do have a porsche mechanic that will take care of most of my major services but he's an hour away and I wasn't planning on leaving my car with him for a month or two, when my clutch needs replacing (bought it at the end of its life). I'd like to the get the alignment done sooner rather than later, so I was looking for someone local. Anyone here from SoCal?

Nice looking C2 '03, welcome to the forum. Are the tires new? Must be lots of good alignment shops nearby, maybe other owners will chime in with a suggestion.

I vote we ban california "GUYS".
You are going to find out the rear end gets an alignment just like the front you might be used to. This is one of the reasons Porsche handles good. It's also another reason to be picky on where to get the alignment done so they have the right know how to handle the porsche set ups for alignment.
