Buyer Beware, ebay muffler bypass pipes
EDIT:
Looks like these might actually be ok, seems I didn't take off enough of the original pipe, thanks to the lack of instructions.
Hi everyone,
This is a warning that these pipes:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
DO NOT fit the 996 C4S, and therefore the turbo and Gt2. I can't attest to whether they fit the narrow body 996's, but the ad claims it fits all 996's. This is a lie. The pipes are about 3 inches too long. They don't even come close to fitting in the tip enclosures. The seller is cooper813, and they claim to be just a reseller who does not know anything about the pipes. In addition, they shipped it to the wrong address, and I had a hell of a time getting ups to ship it to my address.
Just thought I'd let you guys know about these.

too long? are you sure you mounted them right? You have to remove the clamp ring from your stock clamp and not use the whole thing...I have used by-pass pipes and the first tim eI installed them I thought they were WAY TOO LONG too.... turns out I wasnt doing it right.

I definitely removed the clamp ring. With the ring on, the pipes wouldn't go on, due to the diameter sizes. I even tried hammering the pipe on, but the pipe becomes a smaller diameter a couple of inches in, and there's no way to push it in further.

I just went back to the car, now I feel like an idiot. So there are two clamp rings. It seems I only removed the one further out. I even had the tips cut and re-welded because of this. Oh well, hopefully this will be a warning to future bypass pipe installers.

dont feel bad... many of us have been there and its a good idea to ask/post questions/problems on here and find out the solution. I myself learned to ask first, then buy.... that one was hard to learn
