Default Litronics on ebay FS

no affiliation, item #120614259007... still at a very good price.

As customary on other forums, if someone here is bidding on an item, speak up, so other members don't interfere and drive the price up.

unless y'all just want to be jerkwads... lol.

Not a Deal ... A fool and his money are soon parted...

Just purchase a HID kit for $49 and retrofit you standard halogen lights

Not true, the factory litronics come with superior optics, and just switching to a xenon bulb doesn't quite do the trick. It was one option I looked for when buying a 996, as the difference between late litronics and halogen lights are... night and day. Get it? Yeah, that was lame.

DANGER !!

this type of bulb will burn too hot and cause your inner "plastic" lens to turn yellow, and then melt holes right thru it - the lens is not replacable and you will be eigher driving with yellow holes burned thru your lights, or getting a new set of headlights...

$1k for real lits is a fair deal

Incorrect, the aftermarket HID bulb is the same as the OEM ...

Incorrect, a HID bulb will burn cooler than a Halogen bulb (35 watts vs. 55 watts).

+1 for retrofit pics; would much rather have factory lits than a retrofit kit; plus you could keep your OEM halogens or sell them to recoup some $.

That is true BUT the optics are not the same and there is no self leveling.

My inner headlights are already burned and yellow... from the factory bulbs. Maybe I'll try this cheap kit.

Fitted the cheap ebay HID's as soon as I got my 2002 996 -- was really disapointed that Porsche can get away with such poor standard lights
The HID's are a vast improvment -- really very good and a sharp cutoff on low beam and brilliant on high beam.
The only downside is that for flashing oncoming drivers the high beam has a delayed "start up time", but that does not concern me because they are too bright to be flashing anyone, it's too dangerous to have an oncoming car blinded
(And no yellow lenses)
