This is the helmet I use - http://www.discoveryparts.com/cgi-bi...s_bell&pid=843
Good basic helmet. Really depends on fit. Arai is another top helmet supplier.

the big question is full face or open faces. some say that the open face is more appropriate for cars with airbags. But I went for the full face helmet anyways. I did buy an Arai GP5 on sale as the GP6 are coming up. For helmet it is simple, the more expensive they are, the lighter they are. The protection is similar I think but it is all about the weight. I admit that I spent the money on the Arai thinking more long term, hoping to keep it for 5 years or so. And they look and feel great.

If only using for DE and autox and no plans to race and need to hook up to fresh air systems, go to you local motorcycle dealership and try some on. Models and makes fit differently, and you should try several to find one that fits your head. Some makes I can't even wear or fit on my big ole head!
Try a HJC... they make a good helmet and several different styles and price points, but most under $250. I have been using an AC-10 for several years for both my motorcycle and for DE use.
That being said, Arai makes the best helmet out there in my opion, and fits my XXL head the best! The HJC's also fit well and are 1/2 the price, so go figure how I ended up with them. My next helmet will probably be an Arai, probably a christmas present to myself!

You should try some on to find the best fit, everybody is a bit different.
I like lighter helmets, Sparco/Arai and some higher end Bells are quite good, but I think for just DE/Auto-x use, just get one that fits well.

I have a full face Arai I picked up December 2 years ago on sale, then 50% off - brand new - it was $650. I paid $199, I now have 2 open face I picked up for the kids.... I think I will get open face next time. They are better in a car IMO

It depends on the shape of your head!
mine is longer from to back so the Arai's fit the absolute best. The new Shoei also fit well, but you really have to either spend some time with someone that knows the helmets or go and try them all on..(it is tough to find someone who knows all the helmets these days)
The HJC's fit, but only certain models and still rub my forehead a bit. Some helmets are round, some more oblong...
I am not kidding when I say some of the manufactuers won't even fit my head because of how they are shaped. I don't know whether to be embarrassed or glad that I have all that space for brains!
Ones I can't wear- Icon, scorpion, bell, and more...

I was checking the site where I bought mine and they still have them, discount price for XXL heads

It looks superb in metallic gray.
BTW, when i bought mine, I tried to figure out why the "GP5-K' was $300 cheaper than the "GP5" and the only thing I could find was those 3 tiny vent holes on the top... I took the cheaper one

Only reason I got full face is because I did not want to kiss the steering wheel if something went wrong. Is it hotter? Yes, but I did not want to mess up my handsome face.

I have the RZ-21 Sport. Pretty affordable.

I have a Charlie Brown head....big as a pumpkin. The helmet shell is larger and the cheek pads were changed out for fit. This was from Apex and they gave me the XL cheek pad set for free plus the helmet bag.

I have used both my nice Arai motorcycle helmet and the cheapest Zamp SA helmet at DE's. The Arai is a better fit and a bit lighter, but for 25 minute sessions, I am not sure it really matters. I went with full face helmets. Would I enjoy having a better SA helmet? Probably, but I am okay with my cheap approach.
