Default 1999 996 front end damage for sale $15,900

I am CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE a 1999 996 that has been put up on autotrader.com for $15,900. I am in the process of getting a hold of the owner to inquire more about what happened and the condition of the rest of the car. Hopefully I can talk him down in price. But what I really want to know, assuming that this car is in great shape and only cosmetic damage, is how much work goes into replacing the front bumper. What are some things to consider when looking at this car? If there is anything I may have forgot please let me know.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Looks like a lot of damage there. Bumper, bumper support bar, radiator, condenser, fan, headlight(s), fender, maybe front body pan. Who knows what else. If the pan is not damaged I would say $5,000 to $10,000 for the car. If the pan is damaged, parts car.

Michael, that is a fairly high price for a 99 996 that probably has a salvage title. It needs more than just a front bumper. I have rebuilt two 99 996s. That car appears to have a bent front tub. The headlight, radiator, and hood all appear damaged. The price is way too high for the amount of damage that it appears to have.

Marc,

I'll bet that Ed got distracted by the pic of the car. He was ptobably thinking "WOW, look at all those SHINY parts that have been prepackaged to look like a car!"

I think it would have to be a really low mileage car to warrant 15K. 10k is even stretching it--there are non salvage title "driver condition" 996's out there for only 20k

I failed to mention that the car does have a salvage title and the milage is just under 54K.

I wouldnt go more than 8K on that car, Take it to an alignment shop and see if it comes into spec. If so.. Have at it.. But 16K is WAYYYYYY high. Fixed it is only worth 16 Now that its been crunched

Figuring abour $6000 to fix it, this would be a great candidate to build a race car from... at about $8000 - $10000 max.

just knocked my bid down to 5K MAYBE LESS.

Plus looking at that front end pix, their is a lot more damage there that meets the quick glance. There was a reason they totalled it.

if you notice the fenders are under the hood at the front corners. The whole hood it pushed up on the DS near the windscreen. plus the radiator is missing.. How many times has it been ran with out that and over heated? I would run away.. My new current bid is $1000.00
