Default Getting to know my 2000 C2

Thanks to this great site, I'm starting to lose the "Rocket Science" fear of my 2000 C2 Cab that I've had since June. I haven't worked on any car in a very long time. Forgive me Father, but it's been 30 years since my last oil change.

So far, I've -
Replaced cracked third brake light
Switched out "Pumpkins" for clear side lights
Added aluminum instrument cluster rings
Changed the oil and filter.
Added LNEngineering Spin-On Oil filter adapter and Magnetic Drain plug.
Performed the Remote Antenna range TSB
Reseated the radio antenna booster ground connection to improve radio reception.
Touched up interior and exterior paint.

Ok, so it cost me $600 to do the first oil change when you factor in the materials, parts, and tools that I bought. But at $350 a pop that the dealer gets, it won't take me long to recoup my investment. The best part of this is that it's allowed me to relax a little bit and not worry about getting scalped by the dealer.

I've found that this car is both easy and fun to work on, at least for the minor things I've done. I'm looking forward to doing other mods/maintenance/repairs when the time comes.

Regardless of what you do to your Porsche, it just feels good when you do it yourself. Congrats on your list of work performed.

Congrats on some nice Mods. I hadn't heard of the Remote Antenna Range Tech Service Bulliten. A search yielded this. I'll be doing this one this weekend. Thanks.

My radio reception has always been somewhat poor. My search yielded nothing on this "booster ground connection" issue. What's this all about?

The Remote Antenna mod is shown here and pretty easy to do, though I was worried about damaging the trim. Just follow the instructions and you won't have any problems.
I didn't get the range that others got, but it was a vast improvement. My range increased from 1 foot to about 15 feet.

Having done that successfully (and with no pain or damage), I decided to reseat the radio antenna ground which is in the other A-Pillar. My AM reception is horrible despite the fact that I live about 20 miles from a 50,000 watt station. My other cars can receive that station when I'm 150 miles away.
The fix is to remove the ground screw and clean the area around the screw hole to ensure good contact with the car body. This improved the reception a bit, but I still get interference from the AC Fan.

So, the radio antenna is on the passenger side A pillar? I'm 2 miles further from those 50,000 watt stations and my AM is crap. No WFAN without major static (but only with the engine on. Engine off, no problem.)

Yes, it's WFAN I was referring to. The antenna booster is in the passenger side A pillar. I wonder if there's a souped up replacement available?

This is what I've just discovered:

Normally I have my V1 and air fan turned on. If I turn one or the other off, no change. If I turn both off I get decent reception. If I then turn either the fan or the V1 on after that, there is no problem. If I turn the second device on, the reception goes down the tubes until I turn them both off again.
