The LN Engineering site has a list of all of their vendors.

^^^ +1

please keep in mind... many of the bearings are "perfect" when replaced, but its a better game than taking it out after it has become "un-perfect"

I am looking for recommendations.
There are several shops listed on the LN site - but I have NO INDICATION which of them have any experience doing any of this.

I think every shop on the site needs to be trained. PM Jake Raby and ask.

Do a search on this site for each name. See if anyone here has had previous work done and what their impressions were. Not just IMS replacement, but any major work. If that fails, enter the list of shop names and maybe someone will chime in.

Thanks - but already done a search.
Boston area is full of 996's and 986's.
Just hoping someone has done it in the local area, or if Jake Raby who checks in here frequently has some suggestions.

You yourself just posted on another thread that you're looking for a shop who has done many of these - so am I - not looking for just someone who has done a lot of other type of work but never touched one of these.

I've been shying away from recommending shops for the procedure. It seems a few shops that have done the work more than once are trying to do the work faster to net more money and thats creating issues.

I haven't worked with anyone in the Boston area, but we recently do an IMSR for someone from that area. I'll quiz him to see who he was going to use.

much appreciated! so far I've spoken with a couple of indy shops - I think it was EPE - and he actually said it's so rare that they wouldn't even bother recommending an IMS retrofit. If someone is actually trying to shy me away from it, I'd rather not force him to do it for me...

Roadsession. I did post that I was looking for a shop, but that was before I found the list on the LN site. I then searched Rennlist for the names on that list and found posts about them here. Some had high recommendations from Rennlist members. What was the point of your gripe - did I give you bad advice?

Absolutely. If you have to provide the enthusiasm to get the job done, then the shop is the wrong choice!

It also sounds like this shop lacks experience with the M96 engine, else they'd understand the importance. Just because a shop specializes in Porsches and your car is a Porsche, doesn't mean that they want to work with the car and moreover that they understand it!

What? You really think I have a gripe?

Geez - for a minute I thought you were going to fit in here -
You have to grow thicker skin to survive and enjoy here!

Anyway back to the topic at hand :

Agree - I'm going to call around a little bit more...EPE sounded like an aircool shop...

Not thin-skinned, just puzzled. I didn't say you should throw a dart at the phonebook to find a shop. I tried to tell you a good way to research it, something I had just learned a little earlier.
