While they're in there, have them do the "bumperette delete". May as well, what are the chances you'll get rear-ended again? LOL

Yea they are quoting $675 for new bumper and top of line german paint. Seems inexpensive but it is my own body shop so I don't think they would have any reason to lie to me... Unless you goes think other wise. I kind of don't want to even paint the entire bumper... I can alwYs tell whenever a bumper has been repainted no matter how good they blend it or match the color. I don't know what's worse a small scratch that i already forgot about or seeing the slightly off colored bumper.

hold on, you're not making sense

you dont want them to re-paint the whole bumper... but they are replacing the bumper? FOR $700 !!

I suggest being polite and saying "NO THANK YOU"

if they "know whats wrong" without removing the bumper, they are not Porsche People... find a new shop

Id tell your insurance company, you want porsche to fix the car....let them rack up the bill, no reason you should short change yourself for some idiot.

Emdog,

Did the other car hit the bumperettes? If so, they need to remove the bumper cover and check the impact bars inside the bumperettes. Those are "one and done" sacrificail parts to minimize more serious (a.k.a. costly) damage.

If the damage is truly as little as you are now stating, then instead of the thread title reading "Rear Ended" it should read "Someone Kissed My ***!"

It felt like they rammed my ***(I don't know what that feels like..not that there's anything wrong with that)......yea I figured that would be the case with the bumperettes. I wanted to have everything done without insurance. O well we'll see this sTuday when they check it out.

Why would you want this done without insurance? It is not going to be a black mark on your insurance record because you were not a fault.

I understand some of those "reasons" and that's cool and all, but if you got hit and it felt like you got rammed.... the car suffered, end of story.

you CAN opt for a cheap repair and trust me being a guy who has bought a car poorly repaired, it can really suck, but to keep the car with a clean carfax and all makes sense too (or whatever the thought is)

In the end its your car, I met a guy who was driving a 996 with a hole thru the front bumper where the hood meet it, he was OK with it... so ya know, whatever....myself, I was just giving you the scoop as to what the real car issues might be, and how you choose to deal with the info is completely up to you... no hard feelings here
