Default steering squeak

does anyone's steering wheel squeak when unwinding after a turn? didn't want to just squirt WD-40 back there but am tempted. any thoughts - tired of sounding like a rusty post-war yugo.

My TT squeaks occasionally as well, I haven't been bothered enough to bring it up to the forum community yet, so let's see if there is a DIY out there for us.

Often times this is just the strut mount, but it has been known to the the lower control / ball joint area too.

I think it's the airbag/clock spring behind the steering wheel. I think more use may help it to stop squeaking.

I agree with Mark ^. Do a search on "clock spring" and you will find a DIY to replace it.

Not really a squeak, but I did have a creaking sound when turning the wheel. Turns out to be a strut bearing. I pick up the car on Friday.
