Wheel Decisions...What say you?
I have a 01 Aero and I'm pretty much up in the air on wheels.
I have 18" BBS-RS GT where 1 of them is badly curbed and needs to be replaced. But at close to $1k for 1 wheel, I'm thinking some alternatives.
I've always been a period correct person with my cars and was thinking of the earlier Sport Designs that came on '99-00 GT3 models to keep that theme going.
However the Carrera II's found on '02-'04 models really catch my eye but would feel a bit odd putting them onto an MK1 model personally.

Have you considered having the wheel repaired? You did not send a picture. A few years ago, I had a local wheel refinisher work miracles with a BBS wheel on my VW. Looked like new for about $300.00.

I think the Sport design is one of the best looking Porsche wheels, not totally period correct on my Mk II but I just like the look.

They can't shoe in the Japanese forged RSGTs on all their Carreras because the price increase would be insane.
The OEM wheels are fine, but do not feature any of the state-of-the-motorsport feature enhancements and much more conservatively designed. Fundamentally, the Porsche wheels here are all cast.
If you have the cash, go with the RSGTs. FYI, I run 19" LMs on my C4S.
TECHNICAL ADVANTAGE
Forging
In the past few years, “forged” has become quite a popular term in the aftermarket wheel industry—but not all forged wheels are created equally, just as not all cast wheels are created equally.
When the goal is ultimate performance, only a BBS forged wheel will do.
The BBS forging process requires up to 16 million pounds of pressure, and a multi-stage forging process. Starting from a billet of 6,000 Series Aluminum, or a special Magnesium alloy, every stage of production is optimized to create the best forged wheel in the industry—so it’s no wonder why BBS supplies wheels for today’s supercars more than any other company.
The forging process used to make our aftermarket wheels is the same process we use to make our Formula 1 wheels and Original Equipment forged wheels used on the Porsche Carrera, Ferrari 360 Stradale, Ford GT, and a variety of other high-performance and luxury vehicles.
BBS forged wheels have style and substance.
Light weight wheels deliver better performance, but lighter wheels—without compromised reliability—are not as easily achieved as many companies would have you believe. The aftermarket wheel industry has been flooded with products promising light weight—however they are not always strong enough to survive in the real world. BBS forged wheels are not only light, they’ve been designed to handle all environments gracefully and safely.

That's fine and dandy, but Porsche has to manage all the cost components per supplier.

and...
18" Hollow Spoke:
8" x 18" = 19.95 lb
10" x 18" - ET65 = 23.36 lb
BBS RSGT 18"
8" x 18" = 20.6 lb
10" x 18" - ET65 = 22.1 lb
Dont really want to debate this but.... Porsche makes some nice wheels as well.
BTW not ALL Porsche wheels are cast.

I alos have 1 piece fully forged BBS RGRs in diamond black on my
mazdaspeed6.
The mazdaspeed6 design accents came out of Mazdas design studio in Germany so these wheels work great.\
I think BBS LMs look absolutely fantastic on a 993. They just look made for that car.
