Audi dealers wants you to see what your tech. is doing...please Porsche do it !

Jeremy Hicks, Audi’s UK director says ...
"Service departments throughout the industry are often accused of baffling customers with science - by offering our full exposure to the work undertaken on their cars, and the ability to talk through that work with the technician involved, our aim is to demystify the process as fully as possible.”
Would Porsche dare to do the same thing ! I bet they would see a good spike in dealer maintenance. May be an option to record the video also... jsut in case they screw up and... oups sorry we lost the video... very sorry ...
what do you guys think ?

I dont get it
the "average" driver doesnt care about the details, they just want it fixed... i dont think a video or using words an idiot like me would understand would increase or decrease the dealers work load....
That "average driver" will stand there and nod his/her head the whole time the tech explains what went wrong and why, but in the end all they here is how much $$ and how long till they get it back
just my opinion....
now there are plenty of p-car owners that get involved and follow whats happening, trouble is most of them drive aircooled cars
hahahaha - this should spark some screaming

I just like the idea to see the tech opening some new bottle of mobil one and pouring them in the engine, and be able to see if he even take the time to check the level of oil. That sort of things.. I am a bit paranoid after some bad experiences.
I believe most often than not, they charge you for job that is not done at all.
After each trip to the dealer I find myself double checking everything myself.

If you really want to be around when the work is done, speak to the service writer or the Manager. I think a lot of it has to do with insurance and legal mumbo jumbo, but if you convey that you are sincerely interested in learning something, they might oblige; mine does. I think they like to have enthusiasts around

there is no prooving unless you stand there... you must trust - as hard as it is... you have to.
That said, dont be a knuckle headed numbskull... have the knowledge to ask the questions and understand what is done, why and what your choises are along with what are good ideas to do "while in there"
a $260 oil change (seems high but) is somewhat normal... the dealer has to have the car in the shop for an hour... and the going rate is $140/hr in my area... then add the oil and filter, washer, HAZMAT fee, dump, cleaning supplies, shop rag fee, and the "we looked around while the oil dripped out" fee that means we "saw some things that need attention" quote
they have to keep the lights on and the building rented and the employees paid... and liability insurance and.....
well you get the idea - they are not you, in your garage
