Unfortunately it's pouring down rain and is expected to continue until Monday. Luckily I'm off Monday so hopefully I can install them...
I'l guess I'll have plenty of time to take a few pics and perhaps a vid. Stay tuned.

Man, I love the sound of those M&K's! First saw that video about a year ago and was impressed... I dont hear people talk about them much here. Do let us know what you think and post your own video!

Partial update...
Sorry it's taking so long for the update. I didn't take any pics or vid of the install because of the weather - the humidity kept fogging up the lenses and the mosquitoes were eating me alive. It seems like it'll never stop raining.
The mufflers themselves are well built and much smaller than I expected. In fact, they only use one half of the OEM mount. All TIG welded 321 stainless steel, unpolished and fit perfectly. I didn't put them on a scale but they felt about half the weight of the OEMs. The design is a straight-thru similar to the Afterhours and the Jubily. (Pic of Jubily - http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/j...5-p-16132.html) M&K welded a plate across the two cylinders so it gives the appearance of it as one large chamber, but really it's two separate chambers in a flow-thru design. That surprised me when I examined them because I was expecting a baffled single chamber based on the pics on their web site. Pics from other angles would have been more descriptive.
I do plan on making a vid to post, but in the meantime I will briefly describe the sound: at idle the tone is very deep, rev the engine and it makes a little burble as the revs come down. Inside the car it is much louder than stock, especially below 2500 rpm, but above that it's actually very tasteful and the tone is everything I'd hoped for. Actually it sounds magnificent when accelerating.
But - driving style makes a huge difference in sound. Freeway, road trip type driving I have no complaints, only compliments. The sound and volume are perfect. Stop-and-go driving around town is a different story. With the engine pulling in the lower rpms, like pulling away from a light or stop sign, the exhaust note is very loud and bassy. I haven't decided whether I like that yet. I have no idea how loud it is outside the car since I'm the only one who drives it, but you should hear it going under the overpasses!
On a optimistic note - it does pass the wife-o-meter test: she says she likes it and doesn't find it too loud or annoying, even pulling away from a stop. Maybe she just really loves me. I'm going to live with it for a while and see how I like it. One thing is for certain: with this exhaust everyone will know you drive a Porsche and it is everything they've always imagined it to be.
I will post video, in-car and out, if it ever stops raining and I figure out how to attach my video camera inside the car. I have a mount that attaches to the headrest posts (I bought it when I had the MINI) only the 996 doesn't have headrest posts. I'll figure out something.
To be continued...

Here's a pic of the back of the muffler showing the single attachment point. You'll also notice the flare where the tip attaches is a bit different than the OEM flare (which has a rolled edge). The M&K camp with a FelPro gasket ring that fits in the joint - I reused the OEM clamp. The sleeve that attaches to the cat pipe is provided without clamps, so I had to make a run to the parts store for those since the OEM sleeve/clamp diameter was too small to fit.

Thanks for the detailed write up. Glad to hear you got them installed. As I said, I do love the sound on that video! But now hearing your report I am wondering if they might be too loud for me at the low rev range. Do you get any droning at all? Look forward to your video!
