That is indeed weird... Pet only list a filter for N/A up to 2001 even when searching for 02-05 cars...

Could it be that the pump has a filter element in it that is not replaceable?

Don't know about the 996 but I can tell you my 02 Boxster has no fuel filter, well in the traditional sense.

There is a very fine screen mesh filter located on the bottom of the pump through which gasoline flows into the intake of the fuel pump. Upon engine shut off and fuel pump shut off the fuel back flows a bit and tends to flush some trash away from the screen.

Check out pics. This original fuel pump recently replaced (with around 230K miles on the car) and you can see the filter is not that dirty. Tech told me the bottom of the tank was quite clean and didn't even have anough stuff to bother removing it. No water either.

Sincerely,

Macster.

if you had a REAL porsche you would have a filter, jus kiddin, i could jus hear what some of the older porsche enthusiasts are thinkin, i jus hate it when these guys say that we're all one big family, by the way i have a 02 996, i wasn't looking for a certain model when i bought mine, though i do like the older wide body 993's probably the best, but i bought mine from victory motorcars in houston, & i'm sure some of you have heard the horror stories with vmc, i guess it would have scared me away too, but i didn't see all of the complaints until about a month ago, bought mine in 08, but i have never had a problem with mr. neal, he has always done everything i've ever asked of him, & he has always answered his phone if i needed to ask him a question. jus my 2 cents
