Good idea Rick. Wish I would have thought of that. The anchors sleeves were a true 4". I drilled a little too deep on a few of them, and as a result, hit gravel. At least there are 5 anchors per I-Beam.
Hey Jim, good thing I moved that driver's side I-Beam out further. There's only 1/2" clearance between the piston and garage door opener! Got lucky.
Cost was $2000 from Garage Equipment Supply. $130 for lift-gate service -- half of which was reimbursed since I practically unloaded it off the trunk myself.

A column supports vertically.

Sorry to revive an aging thread, but I'm considering installing a MaxJax in my garage. How do you know what the compressive strength is of your garage floor? I know it's supposed to be 3000 psi per Dannmar's specs. Same with the thickness of the concrete, how can you tell?

Maybe there is a local code your floor was poured to? Or check with some local concrete companies for their standard pour around the time you place was built. Also if the spec calls for 3000PSI, wouldn't a 12 x 12 inch section be able to hold 144 x 3000? So if the lift weighs 1000 and the car 3000 I'd guess something less than 3000PSI would be ok.
