Default ADVICE/OPINIONS/HELP 996

Hi, im new to this site and im buying a Porsche very very soon, most likely within the next 2 months. I am buying a 996 but not sure which one i want. I am contemplating between a GT3 or a turbo. if i buy the GT3 i will stroke it and add the parts to officially make it a RS. I usually go to the track at least every 2 weeks and i also do a few runs on the highway with a few friends when the track is closed. Now i love the GT3 but at the same time i want the high horsepower that the turbo offers or has the potential to offer. Most people tell me not to get the turbo because of the horrible turbo lag and the constant problems. This is my first Porsche, i have always loved them and now its time to own one. Please dont tell me my first Porsche shouldnt be either a GT3 or a turbo cause ive driven cars that were faster and i have driven a few GT2's. My friends have a supercharged M3, GTR, M5, superchargered E55, C63 and i want to be able to keep up with them. Please give me your opinions on what would be better (car will not be daily driven) Advice and opinions are greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

At the risk of feeding a troll....

Turbo is more luxurious. GT3 is more sporty.
Turbo has 4 wheel drive. GT3 is rear wheel drive.
There is no turbo lag in a modern Porsche.
GT3 and GT3RS have the same displacement - you ain't stoking nothing (except maybe your ego)

GT3 is the track car so if you're going to track the car then that would be the obvious answer.

Lastly - this is the 996 NA forum. There's a Turbo forum over there, and a GT3 forum over there.

GT3, Turbo, why waste your time? Just get a Carrera GT and be done with it.

^ I agree. I didn't get any sensible advice about a potential purchase on a magic carpet from these guys either.
