Sumitomo HTR Z III 295/30ZR18

The decision for me between the Sumis and Hankooks was easy. The latter were in stock and on sale at my local tire shop...
So far, very satisfied.

Gentleman:
I absolutely concur. Many inquiries were made and it seemd that they all said Michelins were the ONLY way to go. I just couldn't do it. I bought the Sumi's front and rear, plus two extra rears......well, after 100 miles on a PCA social drive I got a spike right in the side wall. I had a reputable shop try to vulcanize the repair....thought it would hold only to come out and see it flat........all said it was trashed....I smiled, Cuz it could have very easily been a PS or Cup tire.........one last note, I was fortunate to have some coaching last year at WGI, the instructor asked me a bunch of questions, including the sneakers my baby was wearing.....he was shocked (pleasantly!) I suspect more and more owners will be making the switch. The are amazig for the price. I was told by a track guru that therese tires are made in the Bridgstone plant....but no proof or other eveidence

Wore out my sumitomo II's and switched up to the III's...
Funny though, I like the II's better for track days, seem to have less tread squirm than the III's...
anyone else think the same?
"Absolutely love my Sumi's, and at less than 1/2 the price, I'll take 85% of the performance"
Amen! and no one on more expensive tires was passing me!

Why mess with success and less than $500/set delivered.

I have the HTR-ZIIs on my Supercharged Corrado VR6, and they have been great. They squeal a bit in the turns, but overall I have no complaints for what cost me $42/tire.
When I got the GT3 fitment wheels for my 911 (18x8.5, 18x11), I went 235/40/18 and 295/30/18 HTR-ZIIIs. The difference between the IIs and the IIIs is night and day. These tires are 90% as good as the PS2s and 1/3rd the cost, but they aren't quite as quiet. As stated though, they are a bit narrow compared to other tires, and on the 11" wide rear wheels, the tires somewhat stretch. I'd love to run a 315/25/18 on the rear, but alas they don't make them in that size. Also, the 235s in the front are XL rated, whereas the 295s are not, which is a bit odd.
I would be curious to compare these to the Ventus V12s from Hankook, as they are a bit wider than the HTR-ZIIIs and they are about the same price.

For the street, I only use Sumis. I used the Sumis on my old 996, and got a set recently for the GT3. I don't think there is a better tire for the money. Especially if you are going to chew them up with a track alignment

Seems like we're all coming out of the closet, lol.

I take all 3 cars to a local small family owned shop for tire needs. While they mostly do Bridge- and Firestone they were kind enough to order me the Sumi's.
Price was equal to tirerack after exchange/shipping & duty to Canada.
So far very happy.
A set of all season Bridgestones for the Jetta actually cost me more than the Sumi's (295 rears) on the C4S, go figure!
I'll be curious to see how they hold up and how noise increases with tire wear. The Pirellis that were on it before were horrible.
