The tips in that ebay ad are aftermarket. Not sure they will fit. Something just doesn't look right.

hmmm, I bought 7 & 15mm...put the 15's on the rear and never even put the 7's on...never even dawned on me to put the thicker ones up front. Guess I just assumed the pushed out rears might make it looker alittle more wide bodied (it didn't) but it did give it a more aggressive stance while lookin from the rear.

With the thicker up front - did you get a better handling/steering feel ?

You should be able to dial out a little understeer with the wider track up front.

thanks, I'll change them out and give it a try....I have to take all the lugs off anyway (put on the spare set that I finally got around to stripping and re-painting - they look like new !)

man,, i liked your tips,, where did you get them?
The tips are Tequipment and the car is lowered on PSS9s. Here is a thread with a pair for sale.

I bought the car with the spacers already installed so unfortunately I do not have a before/after comparison. That said, the steering feel is excellent and while the front end does push occasionally, I wouldn't say it has a tendency to do so.

Those ebay tips are a good deal if they are indeed similar to the Tequipment ones. But that ebay ad doesn't clarify if they are for MKI (which are shorter) vs. MKII (which are longer)... should ask them for an installed pic.

apologies for the thread jack but there is lots of information here so seems like a good place to ask my question:

997 18 carrera III's are 8" wide et57 and 10" wide et58. What spacer size would you say work best upfront? Im guessing the back at et58 would work as is and be like a normal et65 wheel with a 7mm spacer - is this correct?

And if Im following the info above correctly, putting 7mm spacer upfront would make them fit like et50 and 15mm would make them fit like et 42? is 15mm too much?

suspension is bone stock on the 996.

yes, leave et58 as is and put 15mm up front ending with et42, hell you can even put 17mm making them et40.

It will end up like this...

Redridge- thanks. this 15mm spacer in the front (et42 vs stock et50)- will it require a different tire size or will I be able to run my 225.40.18's? thanks

Tires will not be an issue since you are not changing the size and width of the rim. You are only changing the stance of the wheel as it will sit wider than before.

If your suspension is "soft", you have to be careful when your wheels are pushed out very close to the wheel wells; you may experience tire and fender contact when driving into a dip or over speed bumps and that could make matters worse. If you have any of the Sport suspensions then you may be able to get away with minimal clearance between the tire and fender .
