Default Does the AOS have coolant running through it?

Hey Guys, working on a friend's '02 996 cab tip. Small coolant leak down the driver side of the engine below the AOS. Pulled the alternator to look in there and see coolant leaking from some of the seams in the AOS. I wasn't aware of coolant running through it? Looks like pulling the Left intake would give me some room? Thanks

Yep. Coolant runs though the oil separator on the 996. The factory labor guide pays to pull the engine for AOS replacement on a 996. Its not absolutely necessary but it sure is a PITA to do it with it installed.

Thanks Ptec, I heard of all the regular complaints on the AOS, but never coolant leaking. Yes, it sure looks like a PITA. Any idea what the factory time to drop the engine is?

Pull the trans and just lower your motor enough to get to the bastard. I did it from the top removing the intake, etc. but I wouldn't do that again....
