Last days with my Cab
My Cab may be gone before the end of the week so I took it to the World Championship Superbike races today at Miller Motorsport Park. This will be most likely my last drive/ride before it's sold. It's about 45 miles from home and I let my son drive both ways.
The races were awsome and I sunck (is that a word?) a couple of pics in from pit road just before the start of the first leg.
Early this evening I spent some time cleaning it up for the new owner and snapped a few pics. It's a late '99 that I've owned for almost 7 years, and enjoyed it immensely. 61K miles, replacement motor with 15K, original top and plastic window. The car never sits in the sun or driven in inclement weather. It's cleaned and maintained regularly and I fit new tires on it for the new owner and did an oil change. Everything works and it drives like a new car. The new owner didn't flinch when I told him how much this pristine example is worth to me, but said, I'll take it.

I'd like to, this car took 15 months to find, so I'm patient. Looking for the perfect car is enjoyable to me and when it is finally purchased it is not an emotional experience. I won't tire of it quickly or wonder if I made the right decision. A TT or GT3 could be in my future.

Nice Nick...sure sounded like a deal was going to happen. Love the Ducati pics...your Porsche looks great and no doubt the new owner will enjoy it as you did. GL with your next purchase. I let one of my sons drive my 99 911 home the day I bought mine, just the reverse of your sharing moment. He still talks about it.

Well the new owner took possession of my car earlier this week and I really had mixed feelings seeing him drive off. Like 20% glad I was able to get a realistic price and 80% sad that I was parting with a no issue car in nearly mint condition that was absolutely stunning to look at and drive.
I spent about an hour with the new owner showing him all the features and how to operate everything on the car. It was funny that I took the cover off the spare and varified there was in fact a jack stored there which I had not done before. I went over everything in the tool kit and was stumpted as why they put a 13mm open end wrench and combination screw driver in there? If your car quits on the freeway, will this help you fix get it going again?
The new owner did look at a few car before mine, but I think knowing the history first hand, seeing my highly optioned car in the flesh, driving it in the canyons, top down with the PSE singing, knocked him off the fence. I also explained I had a new motor and all related accessories that come with it with only 15k miles. I also showed him the book "996 The Essential Companion" which has half a dozen pics of his new (my old) car.

OK Nick....
sad, yes sad... dude you are free to shop - its like the wife took off and your at the brothel with a fist full of money.....time to test drive some cars
I know a lot of people look for cars with all the bells and whistles, but for me a clean stripped down raw car is MUCH more interesting... I recommend trying both ends of the spectrum and try old and new. You might be surprised where you end up if you just open your mind...
If you like optioned cars and have some extra cash, check a 928 too... seriously they are more than meets the eye and sound fricken amazing.
then again, that's me... you might like the big Buick feel of a 997
good luck on your search and remember, its not a lifelong decision, its a car and you can drive it a year or two and change again

Besides that, the next Porsche I own (IF that ever happens) will most likely be a 997, so as I drive the car off the lot, I don't want to be thinking "Yeah, Ed was right. This does drive like a Buick!"
THAT would **** me off and it would be YOUR fault!

I keep waiting to catch the first race of the season at Losail. Other obligations always prevent it. I like both MotoGP and superbike. I hear the GP is starting to want to go back to 1000cc bikes. The 800cc are still powerful enough but eh. I ride a liter bike.....or should I say I know how to hold on just right. I can't exactly say I feel sorry for guys that trade up to liter bikes during their first getting used to the bikes. Ride safe if you are a rider.
K6 GSX-R1000 if you are wondering.
