Thats my back yard when I'd have them fight to see who gets me. Then they convinced me to take them both on
Good thing they at least learned how to tap out.

I agree with ivan and van, having done this service personaly i would have to say you are probably not going to have ***** bouncing around in your motor... buy the time the ims fails the berrings usualy look like chiped metal.. not ball bearings. If you hear any "weird noises" get the car looked at...

I came across this video... I have no idea how old it is, but it seems Mark Wahlberg's 996 had an IMS failure. (And I didn't want to start a new thread for that...)

"But the OEM bearing is sealed, so the engine oil does not lubricate it, so I am not sure how much of an impact oil changes have on the sealed bearing. In my case I followed the LN Engineering advice and removed the outer seal on my OEM bearing so now it does receive lubrication from the engine oil. Also, on the LN bearing there is no outer seal so the engine oil does provide lubrication."

That's about the only realistic analysis of the problem in this thread.

Bottom Line: You don't use a double sealed bearing internal to an engine
or transmission and when it's non-serviceable & could result in a catatrophic
failure!
