Fister D question

The ceramic coating does add a bling factor, but it is more function than form. It reduces the heat that the mufflers radiate, in your fenders and next to your engine, which is a good thing. The other thing is, the mufflers are media blasted and then ceramic coated, which makes the exterior like new again, which will add to their longevity. Some of the cores I get back are not the prettiest things in the world. I clean them up, but don't polish them out.
Is it necessary?...no. Is it functional?...yes. Is it worth it?....thats up to the individual.
I hope that helps.

Thanks!
It depends on their condition. The usual issue with 996 mufflers is that one of the internal baffles can break loose (cracked welds) and cause a rattle. I can fix this, but it involves cutting some spots open on the sides and re-welding them back up after the repair is made. The other thing is that they can rot apart at the seems. This is not easily repairable and usually results in a replacement muffler. The best thing to do is to remove and inspect your mufflers to decide if they are worth keeping. You can also find used mufflers for sale, and can use them for the modification.
I hope that helps.

You are welcome!
Just remember to find out what ebay item Ed is bidding on and bid on something else.... anything else. Even if you win the "anything else" item, the odds that it will fit on your car are MUCH greater than the odds that Ed's item will fit on his car!
