Beginner's 1st Mod - Dyno Results
Got a bit too excited and went ahead w/ some mods: 1) K&N CAI 2) MaxSpeed Sport Exhaust 200 Cat system 3) ChippedUK engine remap.
Bought the first two parts, a week after I had bought the car...received some unfavorable inputs reg. the manufacturers. The engine remap, follows.
Results: My butt dyno says it has some added push, low-end torque is noticeable, I can definitely feel longer revs in 2nd gear?? Louder sound - Yes. A friend did the tuning for the remap. He says he can tweak/tune again if I want.. Hoping you can share input/quantify from reading the results. Thanks
Note on the Tables: Right to Left tables_ Baseline > w/CAI+Exhaust > w/CAI+Exhaust+Remap

Hi Kyle, the redline was achieved in 4th gear. Like I said, I felt the initial acceleration/boost is coming in the 2nd gear. Dunno why, I'm no expert myself..and not that I'm complaining either. I guess I need some dyno-reader, if there's such, to tell what these tell me.
The tuner said he was content w/ the result..should I?

Hmm, if my memory serves me right: 1) CAI = $300+ 2) Exhaust system = $2,800+ 3) ChippedUK + tuning = $800 and then there's dyno times = 3 x $100, and $100 for installing CAI & Exhaust. Is this within range, you think?

Much better gains than Porsche's own X51 kit that includes heads, cams, intake runners, manifolds, exhaust headers and much more. They could only get 25HP, and the installed cost was more than most 996s currently sell for.
You did well picking what apparently what makes the power, and your super tuner was able to do amazing things with the parts you supplied. He deserves a big tip!
If you're happy, we're happy, that's what's it about.

thumbs up to you for documenting this.
You're not the first 3.4L owner to get great results from modifications.
You've increased hp & tq across the rev range from 3000 rpm +
You've lost power at low rpm, which is also the case with the x51 powerkit, so no surprises here, just keep the motor over 3K!
The chip tune seemed to have little effect on horsepower to the wheels, but seems to have really helped on the torque side.
I think you overpaid on the exhaust, however you've got a car which should be quicker than a Mk1 997, maybe give an S a run for its money, and i know the economics of mods are entirely different in Asia consdering the duty on the vehicles.
Two questions:
1. what do you estimate the ambient temperature was on the three days
2. did you have a huge fan blowing directly into the intake

Average of 50 hp and 50nm for $4K or $80 per hp and nm... I have spent more money faster and never have seen a penny again. You do get better results with a '99 because the power figures were lower than '00 and '01s.

Morning Gents, sincerely appreciate the inputs & comments.
I did look back into my costs, the exhaust from www.maxspeed-motorsports.com was $2,250 + $550 for shipping the goods halfway around the world from Canada That's what I had to pay to live in opposite corner... Here's the pic from the system. Got to give some credit to them, though..however, the 'black-coat' on the end tips are starting to come off. They don't fit right to the rear bumper, IMO. I do plan to replace the tips to original ones, because they look much better. I want to get them 'ceramic-coated' (in black).
The dyno tests was carried out w/ about 2-week interval each from baseline to final. We did it around 11am/noon, when it's nicely 'warm' (+/- 35-37 deg.C) and relative humidity around 80-85 (it's wet season here).
I guess, I should be content w/ the results judging from the consensus. However, I do notice a slight dip (tiptronic start) in 2nd gear when I floor it.. So I may take up my friend/tuner's offer to tweak it once more.
