What? Ifthis is the official price thread then where's the prices list by year and all.

False advertising! Sensationalizing oversale. Call the police!

I have a hard time figuring out prices for cars out there when I can whoop all of them with my gsxr1000 easy. Doesn't make sense to charge so much for a slow ride.

When I bought my car, there was a bone stock 2003 for sale a Lexus dealer, but with blue interior
they wanted $25k and they kept calling me for 3 weeks as the car was not selling. I think the IMS problem and Porsche dealer reputation to be overpriced and unfriendly is killing the car value. On top of that you have the 993 attracting older buyers and the 996TT that is not that much more expensive for those who can go past the $35k line. The base 996 price can't be over $30k IMO.

I have been hunting for mine for 6 months. If I had to buy again though I would certainly add the $5k more and buy a CPO. Extended warranty cost $3k anyways...

2002 arctic silver on black C2, PSM, no leather, no bose, Carrera III wheels, 75% brakes and tires. 72K miles but a new motor in 2005 at 40K miles. Not a mark on the car. Bought from Porsche dealer in WA state in June 2009 for $26.5K.

This thread is telling you nothing. Too many diverse data points with too many variables.

Focus yourself and research the auto sources for a month or more. I did this for 6 months last year and pulled the trigger in Oct '09.

who cares about the price. I am driving mine until the wheels fall off. I can't replace what I've got with the price people are willing to pay for it so I am going to enjoy it myself.

Ok, the point of this exercise is to gather information on what YOU paid for it and when - criteria provided in original post. The 993 thread is actually pretty well done. Otherwise, yep, this thread is worthless...

Ha Ha . Trying to organize this bunch of 996 owners is like herding proverbial cats. We're not like 993 owners, all conformist and everything I for one gave a straight answer although not your list because it didn't address a key 996 topic...whether a reman motor was installed.

Welcome to the 996 world....once you get this pricing thing sorted you can start in on the question of oil. I use Motul because the Mobil 1 is *crap*

yeah.... this thread is going nowhere.. buy a good example at the price you are willing to live with. There are plenty out there to choose from and the prices are all over the boards.... there are many sellers that has diverse history in their buying process and the car's themselves has its unique history as well. These cars are a bargain and it is a great car.... its a win win scenario.
