Confirmation that 996s are 'real' Porsches...
I was just headed home in my MY99 black coupe, up ahead coming my way was a black, whale tailed air cooled 911 turbo. As it approached I thought for sure that the driver would not acknowledge me with a wave....but I was WRONG. I recieved an enthusiastic wave from the other Porsche driver and immediately waved back. It made my day and confirmed that a Porsche is a Porsche with no distinctions made other than that.

Yeah, I passed two that waved at me both times and by the time I saw them they were passed me.... I felt like a shmuck that I didnt get to wave back

Yes, there are of course some Porsche enthusiasts that own Cayennes but it's the exception, not the rule.
