Default Variocam not working?

I have a 2003 C2 I have owned for the past 6 months. I have noticed over the last few weeks that there is no longer the shove in the back I used to experience at 3000 rpm. The engine is smooth, but just seems to zip through that range without any change-over. I'm used to feeling the cam change, but it seems to be gone. Perhaps I'm getting used to the power, but was wondering if this has ever been a known problem. There is no CEL and everything else seems fine. The upper rev range feels normal. Thanks.

If you can find some place that doesn't sell ethanol gas you'll probably do way better.

Ethanol has nothing to do with it. Become a member of Renntech & check there.

vario cam is NOT your issue - it kicks in at 1400 rpm and off around 5400

the "boost" at 3000-3200 is (I forget dammit) but NOT variocam

my guess is the PO didnt drive it right and you are pushing the gas hard enough to let the car run thru the RPM's and it is just running better, smoother, faster

use Chevron highest grade fuel

change the oil (use the best oil you can get ) clean the MAF, check air filter/replace

No chevron in this area. Mostly BP and Shell. Switched to Shell a few years ago after seeing this website. Thoughts?

He does Not have a variocam...he has a variocam plus -- which does give you a push at 3k.

My advice remains...join/post/support on renntech.

Of course, along with other remedies, I've heard that applying pagan symbols on the 4 corners of your car, drawn in the blood of rabid hamsters, can bring your car back into synchrony with the cosmos. This will only work on new moons. By appointment only. Major credit cards accepted.
