Thanks for the advice. Bought the car at Porsche of Nashua NH back in November. It was CPO with everything on the CPO sheet checked off, but the first week I had it, the alternator died. No major problems since then. I haven't been driving it much up here in the tundra of MA, so have not changed the oil since purchase. The car had been driven by a little old man for most of its life and had only 24K miles on it - looks like new.

I could always bring it back there, but what a pain.

Those are blind check marks from my CPO experience.

Yes, you should get a shove from VC Plus at 3k or so and you should be able to feel it.

Your Porsche CPO warranty is good at "any" porsche authorized dealer. Problem solved Congrats on the car, looks great.

I don't have personal experience with Porsche of Nashua, but word is they are good to deal with, is that true? There are plenty of porsche dealers in and around boston and your CPO is good at those locations as well. GL

I would bet there your Variocam is not having an issue. Get an oil change and change your air filter (or clean it if you have a reusable one). I would do annual oil changes in my 996 at about 7000 miles a year. It always livened up after an oil change. It would also liven up when I cleaned my K&N.

Driving style memory of the computer? Or is that just the tiptronic portion? There is valving of oil passages for running the variocams. If you have used a teflon additive maybe its gummed up and slow. An oil change or other method of making sure the operational mechanical portion is as clean as possible might not hurt. You can find the valve info in the service maual.

my variocam stuck when i used thicker oil, it was suggested to replace sensors at about $3k....... someone suggested oil change back to 0w40, to my amazement, that fixed it!
