Drove to work today, everything was fine. I had a meeting in another building and since it was raining I decided to drive over and combine with my lunch break so that the car was driven for around 10 minutes, everything ok. When I went to the garage to drive home the car wouldn't start. Engine turns over but doesn't start. I checked the fuses, everythinkg ok, I put my foot on the gas because I thought it's flooded and let it turn for 30 seconds, didn't help. I pulled the fuse of the gas pump and let it turn, put the fuse back in, didn't help.
Any idea what I can try next? Will take my OBD Reader with me tomorrow but tips would be really helpful, else I have to have it towed to my Indy :-( CAr has now 92k miles on it, was at the dealer 2 weeks ago for changing fluids and check everything.

Hey Daiberl!
Shoot that sucks. Let me know if I can help. Not sure why the "no-start"
99% of the time its fuel or fire. Issolate each system separately and diagnos ea. fully - did it throw a cel? Or ran fine, parked and won't re-start? Was it out in the heavy rain today?

Hi Ed,
nice new car, read about your move to the aircooled world:-) You should come by one day and look at my 914 Bumblebee, made some progress.
The 996 didn't throw a CEL, nothing, no noises, and the rain was not to heavy when I was out. I waited 1 hour and tried it again, didn't help.

did you hear the fuel pump run? I was reading that they can fail. Also the ignition switch (which we all know fails) "might" cause an issue. (often times it will not turn over though sometimes it can still turn over and not run) Try the second key (imobiliser), battery voltage/condition
just thoughts, it has gas right....?

Car runs again!! After towing it to my Indy they checked the fuel pump, worked fine, changed the fuel pump relay and ... the car started. The relay costs $ 18, with towing it to the Indy and having it checked I paid nearly $ 250 :-( Next time when I'm at the dealer I will buy another one just for reserve and will leave it in the car.

WOW, Barn, 3 A's?? I didn’t know they had a upper classification. Does that third "A" stand for Absolute.... so the whole name would be Absolute Alcoholics Anonymous?
