Great weekend at VIR with the Zone 2 PCAers. A few of us Raleigh area 996ers (and one 987) joined the Zone for the event this weekend, and it was a blast in spite of the rain. The people at the event were very friendly and sociable.
The track was wet in the mornings, but it forced us green and blue guys to throttle back and work on the line. But, the afternoon sessions were terrific on Saturday and Sunday.
The 4 people in our group had great instructors who obviously helped to make the DE exceptional. Also, the PCA organizers did a great job. They held a fundraiser on Saturday night that resulted in $2500 to the late Tom Norby's charity at UNC/Chapel Hill.
Thanks, Dell. I learned a lot - as is always the case at these DEs. I've been smiling about it for the last 48 hours.
Pete, you might also want to check out motorsportreg.com. They have a good calendar that shows all of the VIR DEs planned by PCA and other organizations. My next event might be BMW or Audi Club at VIR, if it isn't the First Settlers PCA DE - not sure.
As for the track, I have only attended DEs at VIR. But, everyone I've spoken with in a number of PCA regions says that it's in their top 2 tracks - this is the feedback from people with far more experience than I. So, I'd encourage you to make the trip. Visit the VIR website too. You'll get a good sense of the place there.
Personally, I'm trying to figure out how to get my car to Hawaii for a DE with Pac996!
Bob.....Great pictures.....they look good enough for a major magazine photo shoot.......Hope you will join us for the First Settlers DE in May.....I love VIR..wish I could go every week.....
Seeing the one mans Puma shoes i reminds me that Puma has a Mongolian BBQ website where you can design your own shoes picking mixes of colors and all. They only had 3 base model shoes to pick from that I saw. They do sell car driving/race shoes but I'm not sure of the colors available. The BBQ site at least allows you to match your cars color pretty closely.

I bought those Puma sneakers at Foot Locker. $50 on sale!
