Default Porsche Batt maintainer

I noticed the order form for the Porshe battery maintainer in my paperwork. Has anyone invested in this? My car is a weekend kinda car, and if the weather gets bad, although in Vegas there aint much bad weather, my P could sit for 2 or 3 weeks maybe. I realize it is just a battery tender of sorts, but with the battery not being easily accessable, this is a good type setup. Or are there other battery charge systems with the same setup as this, but for less $? This unit does get hooked up through the cig lighter, correct?

Grazie!

I use a Ctek 3300 with the additional cigarette lighter plug. This is the same manufacture as the Porsche branded maintainer. $55 + $10

I plug mine in anytime I'm gone for 5 days or more. There is parasitic power consumption on these cars (alarm, clock, etc...) and even more when the doors aren't locked. Plugging in the CTEK 3300 or the Porsche maintainer in the lighter socket takes about 5 secs; pretty much a no-brainer to have your car ready to go whenever you need it.

I use the Porsche maintainer/charger. Keeps the battery ready to go after a week of sitting due to snow, or vacation, etc. Will also be used in the summer, when I don't get a chance to drive the car for a few days here and there.

Highly recommended!

I just got one this season. It's helped my battery and starting after a few weeks sitting. Before I got the charger, the car would labor a bit to start. Now after using it over the winter (I tend to drive it once every 3 weeks or so in winter) it just fires right up.

Very convenient,

I agree 100% with Aron in Toronto.. I use the CTEK 3300. It is physically the same as the Porsche branded model, works great.

I have the Porsche one as well, and it works great. However if it didn't come with the car when I purchased it, I would just have gotten the non-Porsche branded one.
