Default Addicted... to customizing, show your stuff!

I thought I'd start a thread on "show your customizing project" to get an idea of what P owners spend their money on and how it looks.

I'll be the first to admit I've got a problem...OK more than one.

But as far as this one is concerned I think it's a good one to have, the addiction to customizing EVERYTHING, first the front than the rear and the interior... oh I forgot about the wheels/spacers and... next week I'm getting the new Techart Gt street side skirts, hahahaha yep I think I'm addict!

That said I think the key is spending the money wisely (well that's my excuse).
You know bang for your buck and all.

I notice that when P owner paint their center console they never re-upholster the leather inserts/glovebox-lid or sides of the storage bin... I found out why!

There is very few shops that can do it and those whom do specialize in that type of work charge a small fortune!!!

I decided to do it myself and it was remarkable easy and inexpensive (the re-upholstering), anyway here's some pics of the work.

All that's left to do is the doorhandles/lids.

What's your next project?

Cheers,

Sid.

I'm generally one for not doing anything to a factory car, cosmetically (I've modified many cars for track work both for myself and for clients), though I must say what you've done to the front end looks very good. I also like the rear, and the wheels work rather well together. I'm however not a fan of the interior.

Okay, I'll bite... Next interior mod up is the double DIN Navi unit (JVC-KW7000, only because it has a detachable display for security). Here are my body mods and interior mods.

As stated in a previous post, I love it when people customize stuff. Especially high end vehicles. It says a lot about the individual and shows their artwork and creativity. Liking everything everyone does is not important, but you can often pick up on a few things that really appeal to you. Customizing is individual expression like photography, painting or sculpting.

+1... I heard a lot of it after I did the body kit (the purists weren't too positive, but that is still okay with me...) and mine is a DD (it started out as a weekend/special occasion car) and it's plenty quick enough stock for my purposes. I don't ever intend to track it (does anyone do that with Cabs???), so performance mods would be a "gee whiz" waste of money on mine - so off on the aesthetic mod route... and not apologetic about it at all...

So Rudy let me understand something here. Looking at your P car pics I'm guessing you have an 3.4L 996 C2 Cab with MKII side skirts, C4S rear bumper, Tech art Turbo front bumper, 997 turbo wheels.

What model did you name your car after?

None... or at best "Mine"... I liked these bumper covers better than the stock ones, so those are the ones I got... I like these side rockers, because they don't look as heavy as others, so those are the ones that I got... same with the wheels... These things aren't collector's items, so I don't care if it doesn't meet someone else's "standard". I'm never going to sell it, so I don't care about resale value... it's the dream car of my youth customized to my taste now...

Sid,

Thanks! Actually it's a cheat - I wrapped the bolsters in carbon fiber cloth, then coated with polyurethane...

Center console bolsters after finishing.

Bolsters showing the difference between unfinished and finished. I think the finished pieces look more like solid carbon fiber...

After the Navi unit I plan on getting the center console and dash pieces painted Arctic Silver to match the exterior... which I think would punch up the CF pieces.
