WOW, Darn-it.... the price on that Cab in the Bay area is incredible, looks nice too, not sure if it is legit or not but worth checking out for someone who is searching for a screaming deal. Make sure you don't bring cash to an unknown and out of town area to see this car. This is telling me that my '00 Cab will stay with me forever now... which is OK with me :-)

Yes, I agree..........Amazing deal on the cab! I am tempted to pick it up myself, but I have too many cars right now, and not too much extra spending cash in my pocket these days!

It's local to me too which makes it even a bit hard to resist! Somebody buy it so I don't have to think about it and be tempted anymore!!

Here is the Craigslist Ad:

"1999 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet - Triple Black, six speed with factory hardtop. Owned by PCA member. Very clean car. Runs perfectly and has been religiously maintained by Bay Area Porsche dealer. Factory six disk changer, car cover and detail kit. Aftermarket performance mufflers, H&R Sport Springs, custom muffler bypass pipes included with purchase, Fabspeed Cold Air Intake, clear marker lights, etc. 117K original miles. 57K miles on factory warranty installed motor. New breaks and clutch installed at 92K. Conti Sport Contact 2's installed 8K ago. Running 285's on the rear. Beautiful wide stance. I am living abroad so the car is garage stored at the moment. Asking $16,000 obo. but accepting reasonable offers. This is a screaming deal for a beautiful car. "

"Living abroad" would point to scam possibility. No phone also makes it suspect.

I dont think scammer write ads that read that well....

so what is the means of communication... email? so email and ask... last I checked email didnt cost much, you will know right away from the reply if its a scam er not

sound like a good car and the guy knows it aint worth **** cuz it has 117k miles - no matter how good of a car it is.... that's just what its worth becasue NO ONE WANTS IT

ask me how I know <I am sitting at 115k miles and have been tying to sell mine for 8 months>

it could have a gold plated a$$ wiper and when you say 117k miles.... the people hang up and never call back

Google the phone number in the ad and look at the myspace entry.

As mentioned, I contacted the guy through email.........he answered all my questions and seems legit. My friend was seriously interested, but decided to buy the 996 Turbo that he has been "on the fence" about for awhile.

BTW, there is no phone number in the ad to "Google" search.

Wow..........I haven't shopped and compared for a 996 in quite awhile, but they don't seem to be worth much at all nowadays! Here's a Cab for $15K. It doesn't say so, but it might be salvaged since the ad mentions that it has had some body work. Otherwise it sounds nice!
