Default Orange intake hose mod Q

I have been thinking about the orange intake hose and airbox muffler cap/ cold air setup. More like a better air flow is how it looks to me. I have a Tip and have that extra line to the intake hose. I see it requires me to purchase a small breather/filter for that line. Has anyone done this and is it worth my time and $? I do want to keep the stock airbox.

Thanks!!

Sounds like you are talking about the Fabspeed cold air kit (not to be confused with their newer competition air intake).

I have the cold air kit on my non-tip. The car sounds better than stock (IMHO), a little louder and less like an electric sewing machine. There is no discernable (to me) performance difference.

I agree. I had the Fabspeed Cold Air Intake Kit and switched back to stock. Apart from the difference in sound at WOT, there is no noticeable performance difference. If all you want is the throaty exhaust sound there are other ways to block off the resonance chamber for a lot less $. Search for "orange cap".

For the low price of admission, be it the Fabspeed, Vertex or "red cap" it does give the car a nicer sound at WOT sure.

I think this is them

http://www.caplugs.com/

I think that a few years ago Niagara Plastics got wise and stopped sending out free samples. You can beg, borrow or steal one from a fellow Rennlister (Niagara usually sent 2 sample caps) or find a substitute. IIRC someone had successfully used a Gillette Foamy cap.
