How do I like the car? I really don't think I got any real sense of it on the Interstates. It wasn't until my friend and I took around the hills in LA and later on some of my favorite twisty roads that I got to really appreciate it. Of course it does everything really well but I have to say I'm most impressed with the way power is delivered. It is one of the most linear powerbands I think I've experienced. A real joy when pushing hard.
Yeah 990 miles in a day was not exactly fun but it beats 600 on a motorcycle! In fact, I drove from D.C. to Tahoe non-stop a few years ago with a friend. We only stopped for fuel, one 4-hour nap, and 2 meals. I think it took us about 61 hours and this was in a Toyota pickup pulling a 2-axle trailer filled with motorcycles. That was NOT a fun trip on any level. By comparison, this trip was a joy!
Nick49 - post up pics of your Mini's and customs. I'm sure everyone would love to see them.
Wow, what an awesome story... that must have been a killer deal to fly to the east coast and pick up the car... if you don't mind me asking.,.. how much did the car cost? i love the silver color its so much easier to maintain than the dark colors like black and blue...
Joe, congrats on the purchase! I just did the opposite. Bought my P-Car in San Diego in early February and drove back to Atlanta. I have the same feelings about interstate driving, but, all in all, it was a great experience and opportunity to get to know the car!
Nice looking 99! Cool that it has the '02 rims - I'm starting to like those more and more. And, believe it or not, I am starting to think the amber bottom section of the headlight assembly tends to make the car look more like it has classic round headlights - compared to my Lightronics unit that is all clear. Anyone else think so from the nice photos Joe took??
