Good point. Reason is I have stock C4s Suspension, and my buddy with a turbo wants to go back to stock maybe and were not sure if it would work..

My understanding is that they are the same... but I don't know that for a fact.

Simillar, but not the same. They are tuned to each models particular weight. The part numbers are also different for the turbo and the C4S, whether it is for the stock sport suspension or for the upgraded X73 aftermarket.

Exactly. The valving of the shocks I think is a little different - not sure about the spring rates.

The stock C4S rides on the M030 sports suspension. The upgrade to this as Palting said, is the X73. If you try to find the X73 online you have to look under the Turbo's suspension parts... but when you order... you specific you have a C4S and not a Turbo.

Fwiw.

Palting, welcome back!!! Haven't seen you here in a while.

Do I need to do an update of your avatar pic, or do you still own the 996 and the Boxster as shown?

According to the April '02 article in Excellence about the C4S:

"In lieu of the Turbo spring rates, Wahl (Porsche development engineer) selected coils 10% less stiff. They also have less pre-load to accommodate the C4S' lighter weight."

"..while the rear (sway) bar on the C4S is 1mm smaller than that of the Turbo. Also the walls of the rear anti roll bars on the C4S are thinner than those of the Turbo as well, at 2.8mm vs. 3.0mm. These changes add up to a 20% reduction in roll stiffness from the rear bar of the Turbo compared to that of the C4S."

"The rest of the actual hardware of the front and rear suspension- the links, longer rear axle control arms, bushings, motor mounts - is identical to that found in the Turbo."

Hope that helps.
