Just replaced the rear Sumi HTR ZIII with a new set on the Saturday, I think I got about 15K out of them. They were down to the wear bars in the center on both tires. Looks like the fronts have at least another 10-20K in them. I'm very happy with the Sumi's.

Are we driving the same car? I had a rear set put on Sat as well!

After this summer the fronts will be done.

I am not saying they are not a good tire - and for the price they may even be the best tire, all I am saying is if I have the money, I will buy a higher performance tire next round so I can compare

I only have one data point - need more!

FWIW, I ran the Sumis on my C2, and I run them on my GT3 now. If you are just putting around town or highway, they are great - especially if you run track alignment.

Thought I'd re-open this thread as I was washing my car today and noticed that my rears are getting pretty close to their end of their lives.

So of course I have Michelin PS2s on the car now and I like them. But I priced them at Tire Rack and Discount Tire and of course each one is $430+.

So I've explored the possibility of just changing out all four with the Hankook Ventus V12. Has anyone tried those in the 285/30ZR18 size? My car is a daily driver and I might do 2 DEs a year and maybe 3-4 autocrosses.

Is the price worth the compromise?

Have been running Bridgestone 050As on my car since new. Fantastic. But you're running 19s on your 996? Are you checking the torque on all suspension parts every 5000 miles?

Dan, he asked about tires to fit 18" wheels.

Good timing - I have just put on the V12's on my car today. I haven't had a chance to try to push them to the limit, but they seem fine so far. I should have an update in a week or two.

Why? Has anyone experienced issues with this?

Oh, that makes sense. Had that happen a few times to me too. If I read the OP's initial post and then reply, that answer sometimes appears below someone's else's post later in the thread. Then it appears that my response was to the later post.

Very good! Keep us posted as if they don't give up much then for the price it'll be worth my while to switch.

+1

There are a handful of posters that I see saying this any time 19" wheels are mentioned on a 996, but I don't know that I've ever seen anything that quantifies the statement. Anyone?
