Default Best Bang for the Buck Tires!

Hi,

I'm looking for some 19" tires and have heard quite a bit about the Hankook Ventus V12's, the Sumitomo HTZ III's and Toyo T1R's. Anyone have feedback about these tires? Or any alternatives? Should I just stick to the N verions of tires from Michelin, Bridgestones or Contis?

Thanks,
Rajesh

Vredestein here. I am really liking them. I think the Hankooks look real nice. check tires-easy.com for price comparison.

Looks like the Sumi's are not available for the WB sizes. What size do most folks with WB 911's run in the back for 19's? 305/30/19's? 315/25/19's?

HTR ZIII's have been good on the street, wet and dry. Not good for the track.

I've been very happy with my Sumis on the street on my C4S. I'm running the OEM sizes on 18s. Not sure about 19s.

I have a set of Nexen's (n3000) on my 18" wheels and BFG G-force sports on my 17" wheels. I was going through a set of rears every 8k- 10k and could not justify the big dollar tires. I autocross both sets and drive the @$)) out of them when ever I can.

The sumi's are absolutely available in OEM WB sizes since i'm running them. 295 is the stock size in the back.

Do you mean OEM 18's? Sumitomo's site (and Tirerack's site) do not show any WB applications for 19's.

I don't think 19s were available as and OEM option for 996 WB cars, so maybe that's the issue. I have a WB vehicle too, but I have 18s on it.

I bought a set of Hankook Ventus V12 last summer and couldn't be happier. Previous tire was Conti Contact Sport. The Kooks are quiet, good in the rain, and I have noticed no issues with very spirited street driving. I'm running 235/35/19 and 295/30 19 on my NB 02 C2 Cab.

I agonized over the "N rated" concept but decided this may be a bit of marketing hype kinda like "Porsche approved" oil but I am probably an agnostic on both.

I paid $750 for these tires from Discount Tire Direct and then received a $50 rebate from Hankook. Quite a good value.

Car and Driver did a review of Max Performance Summer Tires here http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests . The Kooks were better than most tires tested. Check it out!
