What you want to do is PM a guy named LVDell.

He's got all the data already. He may be a little reluctant to share it though so whatever you do, don't take no for an answer.

He'll try to double talk statistics with you, but just keep explaining that your are conducting a "scientific" poll here and he'll come around.

By the way so far your poll is suggesting a 0% failure rate so I'd just leave it as it is.

Mine never failed too.

There is a guy on here that IMS failure crept and crept its way further into his mind till one day rumor has it he got rid of his porsche because of the fear. He still hangs around here as a ghost. Even his ghost is scared and drives a honda.

My IMS itches and it's sort of got that 'not so fresh' feeling. Any advice?

It's Wednesday and so far this week engines seem to be holding up fairly well.... We've only answered two IMS bearing failure calls thus far.

The record is 13 in one week! Percentages can't be accurately figured, because no one knows exactly how many cars were made, and of those cars how many have had replacement engines installed.

No chance this time around. My days of trying to explain are over.

Thats the spirit!!

I will say my indy has 2 on the ground right now with IMS "issues" one is a rebuild with Jakes complete new engine, the other is going to swap for a junkyard motor and the indy is going to try and buy the take out motor from the owner, rebuild it and have it ready to swap into another car... sort of a ready built replacement

smart idea IMO

Actually I don't think Ivangene is familiar with the guys at SCAN. They're in my neighbourhood up here in North Vancouver.

In a couple of weeks the boys at SCAN are hosting a tech night where they'll be replacing the IMS bearing in my first 996, which I sold a year or two ago to a very nice girl named Kate.

Should be a good night out. Apparently doughnuts will be involved.
