I'm taking my 02 996 tip to the track for the first time in a couple of weeks and so have been doing a bit of reading on differences between getting a 911 around the track as compared to a 951 as I am used to.
It sounds like balance via braking is a key factor with the 911 and as the one I have is a tiptronic, I am thinking more about left foot braking to manage that balance. From my reading the tip is looking to accomplish downshifts whilst the throttle is closed. So I am wondering if there are known adverse effects to the Tips ability to accomplish an appropriate shift pattern whilst left foot braking/trail braking?
If so, it doesn't allow the application of throttle and brake at the same time, the system will cut throttle application if both are applied.
This isn't soo much of an issue on corner entry, but if you're using the brake and throttle to balance the car mid turn after you should already be back to the gas then you're going to run into issues.
Might work then. Most manufactures did employ this with their drive by wire conversions. My 02 tip will not allow this as I tried it on people riding my bumper....don't work.

Hell, no one else drives fast enough to ride your bumper!
A few weeks ago, when I was following you in your Turbo, as we were getting on I-35 I looked in my rear view mirror for a second and when I looked back at the road ahead of me, you were GONE! BTW, even with the windows rolled up, I did HEAR you leave! It was a sweet sound.
