Default Road trip fever!

OK the wife has just let it slip that she may be into doing another road trip in the 996 this year, after our successful cross-country journey to SF/Monterey last May. This comes as a complete shock to me, so I need to capitalize on my situation.

We need destination ideas - what we're both looking for is interesting scenery & stops, and what I'm looking for is at least some great driving i.e. not completely straight-up interstate. Start/finish line is Montreal, or basically upstate NY. 10-12 days is preferable.

Anyone w/ recommendations from their wish list, or a great trip experience that they have had? Much appreciated

I bought my 01 C4 in Boston and drove it home to Chicago in October. The Mass turnpike is a beautiful drive thru hills/mountains. Very enjoyable.

If you've been out west, then I would recommend a drive down the Eastern seaboard of the US. I would recommend a trip along and around the Blue Ridge Parkway which runs through Virginia and North Carolina. In addition, rides through Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virgina are gorgeous. Plenty of interesting side trips and glimpses of the Appalachian culture. Also, lots of great mountain roads to push your 996!

Thanks - in fact my wife just e-mailed me to suggest that route

Anyway, think I overshot the runway a bit...looking more like a week-long trip at most, so this one makes the short list.

North Dakota, Kansas, West Texas, you know. Nice straight roads, plenty of corn and soybeans and wheat and dust and..........Oh, I guess not

I would suggest the 3rd weekend in July for the Kohler Brian Redman Vintage Can Am weekend at Elkhart Lake, WI. The track is Road America (a 4 mile road course). Stay at Seibkins the weekend. Friday and Sat nites the race cars drive into the town (Elkhart Lake) for a concourse. Great food, some music. The weather is usually good but last year was damn cold. I used to live 20 miles away. I make the drive every year with my wife and friends.

Here is a taste of what you see

This is a great weekend.
